The central story and mystery presented in “Under the Banner of Heaven” is interesting. I think the series has a lot of interesting topics to explore but sometimes isn’t consistent from an entertainment standpoint. I was very engaged with the series when it first started, but in the middle, I felt a bit bogged by it. I don’t mind how bleak it was and think it wraps up with some intense and well-made episodes. I also think Andrew Garfield is in top form here as he usually is and his performance as well as the rest of the cast makes the series a very solid watch. Overall, it isn’t my favorite crime drama out there, but it is a solid little miniseries with a complex and fascinating central storyline.
