Every once in a while there is a stand-up comedy special that absolutely blows me away. Dave Chappelle is arguably the greatest and most consistent stand-up comedian out there, and this new special, “The Closer,” is just further evidence of that. Chappelle has no filter on any topic and often touches on things many of us are thinking but are too afraid to say. The way he discusses many timely social topics and also makes me laugh uncontrollably throughout his shows is pure genius. This special has many hilarious moments but plenty of starting points for valuable discussions to make. The way he handles the criticisms of his previous specials, which by the way was also brilliant, is fantastic to watch. On top of all of that, this special ends on a very heartfelt note that even brought tears to my eyes and didn’t feel out of place at all. Overall, if you’re a fan of Dave, this is an unmissable comedy special that just gets better and better for me the more I think about it. It’s a work of art.
