“Defending Jacob” is a solid crime drama that is more focused on the drama than the actual mystery element. The mystery presented in the show is intentionally a bit ambiguous and I felt like I wanted more from it personally. However, this show does a good job of showcasing the effects on a family if this sort of accusation happens to one of them. I thought both Chris Evans and Michelle Dockery gave good performances and I think the acting was one of the highlights of the series. I did feel that 8 episodes felt a bit long for what the series was trying to accomplish and as a result, some episodes did drag a bit. Nonetheless, this is a strongly acted and well-made series that has an interesting premise and unique ending. If you have access to Apple TV+, I would say this is worth checking out.
