Hulu’s adaptation of “Looking for Alaska” does John Green’s novel justice in almost every way. I devoured this book about a year ago in a little over a week and was ecstatic to hear they were doing a series for this story. The show sticks to the story where it counts and captures the spirit of the themes well. I think better than anything else, the show wonderfully cast and all of the actors chosen were perfect choices for the characters. I think as a whole the story does work better as a book, but it really feels like the writers of the series did the best they could. I also admire how they made a bold choice to present this story as a miniseries instead of a movie which allowed for some of the more emotional moments to carry more weight and really sink in. If you’re a fan of John Green in any way, this series is worth watching and I consider it among the better book to screen adaptations I have seen.
