As a whole, “Jessica Jones” is a first-rate series. The first season is outstanding and the second is also rock solid entertainment. I think more than anything else it ends up being hurt by a somewhat rushed and uninteresting final season. Nonetheless, this series is unique and a good watch. The show isn’t afraid to dive into mature and dark topics and isn’t typical superhero fare, which I found to be very admirable. Krysten Ritter’s performance is why this show is a winner. Her character is charismatic and ultimately one I found myself very easily able to root for. The series boasts an excellent villain in its first season David Tennant as Kilgrave who is terrifying because his power is actually getting people to do anything he wants. The show never lives up to its confident first season, but I personally thought season two was a good effort. It’s season three that never really grabbed my interest. It wasn’t awful, but it feels jarringly weaker than the rest of the series. In the end, if you’re looking for a unique superhero series with a great lead character and some very intense and grown-up themes, this one is worth checking out, most notably the first season.
