“Red Dead Redemption” is a shining example that Rockstar Games is so much more than the “Grand Theft Auto” franchise. This game essentially has the feel of being like GTA in the Wild West, and it works really well. The game transports you to this world and I became absorbed in it. The main story is north of twenty hours, but when it ended I said: “that’s it?” I then realized I said this because I became addicted to playing through the missions. I kept saying “one more mission and then I’ll stop” but it would never just be one more. Every mission that involves a shoot out of some sort, which is most of them, is handled very well, and all of them feel different enough. There are a few missions that I became a little frustrated by, but I still found enjoyment in taking up the challenge. The story builds up to a surprisingly quiet yet emotionally impactful final act, which is what surprised me more than anything else. It’s a well-made game in all aspects and I am so glad there is a sequel on the way.
