There really is something in this show for everybody. I found this to be so much more than just a show about football. The sport is simply a backdrop to showcase the stories of compelling characters. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the scenes where football was played, on the contrary, they were always exciting and never felt repetitive. The first few seasons do a good job of getting the ball rolling but the last three seasons are what make this show truly great. The premise at first seems like it might become repetitive, but the writers keep the narrative twists consistent and I was constantly interested. Some of the scenarios in the series can be a bit far fetched, but for the most part, everything is fairly grounded in reality. I thought the performances were all great but there is a noticeable issue about characters looking significantly older than the characters there are portraying. Kyle Chandler as Coach Taylor is the standout performance and in every season he does a fantastic job. His character is easily one of my favorite characters in television. All in all, this high school drama is a winner that is most definitely worth experiencing.
